Virgin Media to launch fitness channel
Get Moving will be fronted by trainers including Olympian Daley Thompson (centre)
Virgin Media in the UK is set to launch its first fitness channel, which will be exclusive and available at no extra cost to all of its TV customers.
Get Moving will launch on Monday June 1 and will air Monday to Friday, designed to keep the British public active while gyms and leisure centres remain closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
It will air specialist fitness sessions throughout the day, from yoga to HIIT (high-intensity interval training).
Former decathlete Daley Thompson CBE, a double Olympic gold medallist, has been tapped to appear on the channel.
He will lead sessions with personal trainers from his Daley Fitness company in the morning, afternoon and evening. This includes morning yoga, pilates and other forms of fitness throughout the day.
On Fridays, he will be joined by a special guest, with fellow Olympian Lord Coe joining him next week.
David Bouchier, chief digital entertainment officer at Virgin Media, said: “With many of our usual ways of exercising restricted due to the current situation, we are having to rely on home and garden work-outs to keep ourselves active.
“That’s why we’ve assembled a range of fitness experts, including our very own Olympic gold medal decathlete Daily Thompson, to take us through our paces and get us all moving and entertained at home.”
