TV2 Denmark’s former head of acquisitions Anette Romer has joined Nordic outfit STV Productions as a format consultant.

Romer, who left TV2 at the end of June after more than three decades with the broadcaster, will be tasked with uncovering and securing rights to international formats for STV, which has offices in Norway and Sweden.

The prodco is behind a raft of programmes for Scandinavian broadcasters, including Long Lost Family, Wheel Of Fortune andThe Class/First Years, while its original formats include Big Love, Bargain Kind, and Get Lost, Honey.

While at TV2, Romer brought formats including Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, Jeopardy, Wheel Of Fortune, Task Master, Strictly Come Dancing and most recently Race Across The World to Denmark.

She also previously worked with STV on formats including Show Me Your Fridge while the prodco’s CEO and founder René Szczyrbak delivered his first TV2 programme to Romer, who was then commissioning editor of entertainment.

“I feel very passionate about the field of formats and it is a very welcome challenge to continue to use my expertise, not least because it includes looking at the full spectrum of broadcasters in the Nordics,” Romer said. “I have a long-standing relationship with STV Productions, a company with solid values built up and professionalised over three decades, and I hope to contribute to the continued success of the company.”

Maria Thastum, STV’s programme director, added: “The current market is extremely consolidated, fewer and fewer attractive formats are available, so scouting ideas is of the utmost importance to our company – STV Production being one of the few independent companies of size in the Nordics.”

Romer’s remit at TV2 was taken over by head of TV2 Play and TV2 Zulu’s Sune Roland following her departure.
