Kids round-up: Hopster comes to Mediacom in US; Ameba picks up anime series

Hopster heads to Mediacom

Children’s TV streamer Hopster is now available to US subscribers of the Mediacom OnDemand service.

The content, focused on pre-schoolers, includes vocabulary-learning show Lingokids and the numeracy-focused Numberblocks, as well as family favourites such as Bob The Builder and In The Night Garden.

Mediacom is currently offering a one-month free Hopster preview, ending on 19 April, to its subscribers, who are primarily located in the Midwest and Southeast US.

Last year, Hopster partnered with The National Cable Television Cooperative, which represents more than 750 broadband and cable operators across the US. Mediacom Communications is the first member to sign up and activate its partnership offering.

Nick Walters, founder and CEO at Hopster said: “We are thrilled to be partnering with Mediacom, and to strengthen our brand in the USA. For millions of families around the world, the Covid-19 pandemic has highlighted the need for content that is both educational and entertaining whilst more families are staying home – we are proud that our partners can rely on us to deliver safe, learning and age-appropriate content.”

Ameba picks up anime Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal

Children’s streaming service Ameba TV has acquired all three seasons of anime series Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal.

The agreement with Konami Cross Media NY sees the streamer pick up 146 x 30-minute episodes to be shown worldwide, except in Asia. The series follows aspiring duelist Yuma as he is trained by the amnesiac Astral, a mysterious visitor from another universe.

“As a kid focused, video-on-demand platform, Ameba TV allows the Yu-Gi-Oh! brand to increase awareness and reach younger fans,” said Mark Kirk, SVP, director of digital operations at Konami Cross Media NY.
