Oceanic Whitetip – The Shipwreck Shark

Broadcasters and platforms across the world have picked up 170 hours of new wildlife and factual content following a slew of package deals with producer and distributor Earth Touch.

Earth Touch’s own 24 x 26-minute series Epic Earth is among the new global sales, with the show headed to Discovery Asia, RTP in Portugal, EBS in South Korea, VTV in Vietnam, i-CABLE in Hong Kong, U7 in Russia and Longturn in Taiwan.

The 1 x 50-minute Earth Touch and Smithsonian Channel-produced feature Dung Mafia, which explores the complex interactions of dung beetles on the African Savannah, is meanwhile headed to RTBF in Belgium, Servus TV in Austria, SVT in Sweden, CCTV in China, VTV in Vietnam and TrueVision in Thailand.

Earth Touch, Oscura Productions and Smithsonian Channel’s 1 x 50-minute special Migrating to Mexico, made in association with ORF/UNIVERSUM, which uncovers one of the most biodiverse countries on the planet, has sold to TVE in Spain, KBS in Korea, YLE in Finland, ARTE in France, SVT in Sweden, TrueVision in Thailand and RTV in Indonesia.

Additionally, Japan’s NHK has acquired Earth Touch and Smithsonian Channel’s Oceanic Whitetip – The Shipwreck Shark (1 x 50-minutes) for its primetime ‘Darwin has Come’ slot, and the documentary has also sold to international broadcaster Viasat World for Viasat Nature across Baltics, CEE, Russia & CIS and Scandinavia.

Chris Fletcher, Earth Touch director of sales and programming, commented: “Despite the current challenges our industry is facing, we are fortunate to have seen a surge of interest in our wildlife catalogue over the last couple of months.

“Our robust slate of natural history titles, which spans both features and series, offers effective and flexible solutions for broadcasters who may currently be looking for easy-to-schedule programming. Wildlife programming provides engaging viewing for the whole family.”
