Handmade in Bolton centres on a prolific art forger
UK-based distributor DRG has acquired the series Handmade in Bolton and The Art Mysteries from art critic and documentary maker Waldemar Januszczak’s ZCZ Films.
Handmade in Bolton (4×30’) tells the story of Shaun Greenhalgh, one of Britain’s most prolific art forgers. Working from a shed at his parents’ house, he fooled experts for three decades, selling an impressive array of fakes to museums and auction houses all over the world.
Meanwhile, The Art Mysteries (4×30’) sees Januszczak embark on a forensic investigation into four great paintings.
By highlighting subtle clues, new meanings and hidden messages, he offers new perspectives on each of the works of art. The paintings featured include Gauguin’s The Vision After the Sermon and Van Gogh’s Self-Portrait with Bandaged Ear.
Both titles were originally produced by ZCZ Films for BBC4 in the UK.
Additionally, DRG’s previous acquisition from ZCZ Films, Made in the USA (3×60’), has been picked up by Histoire in France, Yleisradio Oy in Finland, New Zealand’s Sky TV, Sky Italia, PTS in Taiwan and P&P Permissions for Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Slovenia, Croatia and Serbia.
