Cosmic Kids Yoga fast-tracked to series
Cosmic Kids Yoga has seen a spike in its YouTube viewership
A YouTube channel that brings yoga, meditation and mindfulness exercises to kids has teamed up with a fledgling LA-based studio to develop a series about its brand in response to the Covid-19 crisis.
Cosmic Kids Yoga, which launched in 2012 and has reached millions of young children via its videos and teacher training programmes, is working with LA-based Capacitor Studios to develop the series.
Leading the development are Scott A Stone of Stone & Company (Legends of the Hidden Temple) and former Nickelodeon executive VP of live-action and TV movies Bronwen O’Keefe (Henry Danger).
Cosmic Kids Yoga has recently experienced a spike in its YouTube viewership numbers with an average of more than 30 million new monthly video views and over 250,000 new monthly subscribers due to the pandemic.
As a result, the live-action/animation hybrid series is being fast-tracked by Capacitor and is designed to take kids on “exciting yoga adventures and help them overcome challenges through movement and mindfulness.”
It will feature Cosmic Kids host Jaime Amor alongside animated characters and an interactive set.
“Parents and teachers have reported tremendous improvements in kids’ focus and empathy after engaging with the series. This type of fun, forward-thinking children’s programming is especially vital in today’s world,” said Capacitor CEO Paul Hanson.
Capacitor Studios was founded in 2019 by veteran executives Paul Hanson, Asa Greenberg, Ian McGloin and Elan Freedman.
Its slate of family and animation films and TV projects includes an animated series based on the toy brand Feisty Pets and live-action/animation hybrid feature film based on the designer vinyl toy Kid Robot.
