Channel 4 to deliver The Talk

UK broadcaster Channel 4 has commissioned a one-off documentary that aims to reveal a part of British life that is little known about outside the black community.

The Talk (working title) comes from Whisper and Cardiff Productions. Its title refers to a discussion parents have with black children to prepare them for the reality of living in a society where their skin colour marks them out for a lifetime of challenges that white people may not understand.

The 1×90’ film will feature a cast of leading black public figures sharing memories of the talks they’ve given or received.

It will be directed by Geoff Small and exec produced by Maxine Watson alongside Cardiff Productions MD Patrick Younge and Wisper CEO Sunil Patel.

Patel said: “We approached Channel 4 with the idea to co-fund an important film that could help raise awareness of racism and generate change.”
